Feature Course: COP 4225 - Advanced Unix Programming
This Fall, the School of Computer Science is
featuring COP 4225 -
Advanced Unix Programming, instructed by Dr. Barton. This course gives a Unix overview of files and directories. Shell programming is an intrigal part of the Unix experience, so Unix tools such as sed and grep are covered. This course also covers the Unix internals such as the file systems and process structure and deals with using the system call interface and interprocess communication.
"This is a very practical course. Besides learning how
to work in a Unix/Linux environment, I learned to write and run shell
scripts to manipulate data files, which I now use every time I need to
reformat large amounts of data. Logging into a Unix/Linux server is not as
intimidating as it was before I took this course." - Mayelin - CS Graduate
