The School of Computer Science offers an array of Undergraduate programs with cirricula designed to provide study in state-of-the-art computer applications as well as an introduction of the theoretical foundations of computer science. Currently we offer the Computer Science and Information Technology programs. NOTICE: This or any subsequent page is not intended to be a complete list of all requirements and is not a substitute for the Undergraduate Program Catalog. All students are presumed to have read the information in the Undergraduate Program Catalog, which is the final authority. The Computer Science Program
A student in the Computer Science Undergraduate program has the choice of following one of two tracks.
A majority of the required courses are the same for both of these tracks. Please read the detailed course requirements page carefully; the differences between the tracks are noted. For more details on the undergraduate Computer Science program, please read more . . . We also offer a minor in Computer Science (Minor code: AS9114) program. This is for students who are majoring in another degree and wish to get a minor in Computer Science. To find out about the CS minor program, please read more . . . The School of Computer Science offers curricula leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. The Bachelor of Science program in Computer Science is accredited by: 111 Market Place, Suite 1050 Baltimore, MD 21202-4012 Telephone 410-347-7700. To view our Computer Science Assessments page, please click here. Students enrolled in one of our Computer Science courses may make use of our computing resources.
The Information Technology (IT) Program
The School of Computer Science also offers two Undergraduate Information Technology Programs as well as a Weekend IT Program.
Computer Science and Computer Engineering are not accepted as the primary major at this time.
Students enrolled in one of our Information Technology courses may make use of our computing resources.
The John C. Comfort Laboratory (JCCL) is a learning facility for
undergraduate students of the School of Computer Science. This laboratory
is equipped with 60 Pentium IV, 2ghz class computers which run either
The School also maintains an Instructional Lab which is designed to support courses which have a "lab" component. Like the JCCL, the Instructional Lab has 15 Pentium IV, 2ghz class computers. This room can accommodate 30 students on the 15 workstations working on collaborative assignments. In addition, we are currently supporting another open undergraduate lab designed to accommodate students working on team projects or collaborative assignments. Affectionately called the Experimental Lab or ExLab, is has been designed to be flexible so that it can be employed to meet a variety of curriculum computing needs. As an example, a course which has a "hardware lab" component uses this facility with designated equipment for its "hands on" lab assignments. For more information about the JCCL and our other undergraduate computing resources and services, please visit our website at: http://www.aul.fiu.edu. |
