Eric Johnson was born in 1966 in Lafayette, La. He moved from
there to
Normal, IL
with his parents.
Dad retired from being a Geography professor at
Illinois State University
and moved to Ashville NC. Dad passed away in July of 2006.
Eric's grandfather, E. D. Johnson still lives in Asheville NC.
Grandad is a retired History professor, last at Radford College in
Radford Va.
Eric's mother (Janice) passed away in February 2008. She had been living
in Fayette MO. with her husband
Lee Woodward
who retired from being a History professor at Tulane Univ. They had moved
there in 2005 after Katrina destroyed their home in Bay St. Louis Miss.
Eric has a younger sister
Sharon
who is in Lafayette Louisiana, with her husband Eddie and daughters Nichole
and Isabelle.
Eric went to high school in at Univ. High School in Normal, Il. He somehow managed to graduate in 1984. That's about all he remembers of those days.
After high school he came to Gainesville, Florida to attend college at the University of Florida. While in Hogtowne he picked up a BS in computer engineering in 1992. At the time Eric did not want to Graduate, he wanted to remain a college student for the rest of his life. He figured that by not applying to graduate, he could avoid the "REAL WORLD". But no.. a roommate at the time Bob tricked him into graduating, just because Bob didn't want to be the only one in the house who had a degree.
Eric worked for a number of folks while in Gainesville. His last position was non-tenure track Faculty for the Astronomy Department. Before that he worked for (in reverse chronological order):
Eric Currently works for the Computer Science Department at Florida International University in Miami Florida.
The love of Eric's life is his wife Dr. Caroline Simpson. She is a Assoc. Prof of Astronomy and Physics at Florida International University They currently live in Country Walk neighborhood in south west Dade county.
Eric and Caroline's daily companions are their four cats,
bigguy (male),
floater (female),
malcom (male), and
kismet (female)
mimi (female) passed away at the age of 20 in 2007.
