On Page Search Engine Optimization

Tag: seoadmin @ 6:44 pm

One of the important aspects of SEO is On Page Optimization and as an SEO Consultant I always for the following when I first look at a client’s website.

1. Spiderability: If the search engines can’t read your website then you are shooting yourself in the foot. A good design will ensure good spiderability. Having a sitemap, both xml and html definitely helps as will separating your javascript and css code from the html files.

2. Title tags and header tags: Title tags and header tags help in telling the search engines on a website’s context and setting the tone for a page and its content.

3. Internal linking: A good internal linking structure is critical to direct the search engines and authority all over your website.

4. Duplicate Contest: Ensuring you do not have duplicate content is another important step that you will need to ensure for better search engine love.

5. Search Engine friendly URL’s: Avoid dynamic variables in your url’s and if you can’t, keep it less than 3 variables. A good url structure helps you get that extra push on your rankings.

The above are some of the aspects to look into while looking to optimize your website for search engines. While this list is not comprehensive, it is a start and should help you in seeing some changes for the better as far as your rankings go.
